First Off-Leash Dog Hike
/When Kathy, one of our dog park friends, texted to see if we wanted to take Duke on an off-leash hike, I was a little hesitant to say yes. Duke is a good boy, but he’s also only 10 months old and has a strong prey drive (oh hi, German Shepherd + Husky + Akita + Jindo mix). Literally all of his breeds were bred for hunting, guarding, and patrol duties.

/January for us, as for most people I think, was a time of resetting and getting back to routine. I generally love the Christmas season, so it always kinda surprises me how ready I am for it to be over by the end of December. There’s something oddly re-energizing about routine and productivity.
Read MoreWhat to Expect When Exhibiting at a Show
/I had no idea what to expect at my first show. I knew that I enjoyed attending them, but exhibiting at one felt strangely intimidating and impossible. How do you set up a booth? How do you take credit cards? Do you need a lot of inventory on hand? How does the load in and out work? So many questions.

/This one time, we had a cat for 6 weeks. It was October 2018, and we had just moved to our new pet friendly apartment. We found Luna wandering around outside our apartment one evening, super freaked out and cold. Being a sucker for cats, I brought her inside (thinking it would just be for one night).

/For some reason I wasn’t overly excited to see this one. I think it’s because I loved the original, and watched it over and over again with my sister as a kid, so I wasn’t sold on the idea of a remake. But Sean kept pushing it because he was hearing good things in the industry, so we finally went this past Saturday.

/We decided to stay local this year for Christmas, but that certainly didn’t mean the month was void of holiday festivities. I’m also not overly obsessed with Christmas traditions, but the ones that I do like, I LOVE. One of them is putting up the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving.

/A pure “fun” movie from start to finish. They did a good job of not taking themselves too seriously, and leaning into the silly, playful and adventurous nature of the story. It was also fun to watch this in a theater with the intended audience.

/I predict this movie will win best picture at the Oscars this year. The film is beautiful and special because of the way it was shot (more on that below), and the story that it tells highlights the brilliance and resiliency of the human spirit in a way that is both believable and exhilarating, and impossible and heart-breaking.

/I wasn’t sure what to expect from this movie, and only really knew that it was a comedy about Hitler and the Nazi youth. The idea is certainly original, and I understand why Taika Waititi wanted to use comedy to reiterate the horrors of this period in history (especially given our current political climate and the resurgence of white supremacy groups)

/This movie has taken a lot of flak from diehards (and maybe for good reasons), but if you are like me and enjoy Star Wars but aren’t a fan of Star Wars, this is a good movie. The universe and cinematography are stunning, and there are lots of nods to original characters, music lines, and locations, that give the audience that perfect hit of nostalgia.

/I vaguely remember Sean adding Parasite to our “we should go see this” list, but I never saw a trailer for it (realized why during the first 30 seconds, more on that below), nor did I know anything about it. But I was convinced to go see it after having coffee with my friend Stephy.
